       Mysterious process?
You bring your clothes to the professional cleaners, drop them off with the customer services representative, and a few days later you pick them up looking as good as new. But what happens to your clothing in between?
To many people, professional cleaning is a mysterious process, and you may be surprised to learn that professional cleaning consists of more than one process. In fact, your cleaner might employ more than one technique to give your garments that "like new" appearance. Wetcleaning or laundering may be used in conjunction ,or instead of, drycleaning. Both of these processes involve the professional removal of spots and stains from garments through the use of water and additives as well as using precautions to prevent shrinkage, loss of colour and fabric distortion.

Natural fibres such as wools and silks can shrink, distort and lose colour when washed in water, but dryclean beautifully. Synthetic fibers such as polyester also respond well to drycleaning, while they can retain oily stains after washing.

  The Drycleaning Process.

Drycleaning uses solvents to remove soils and stains from fabric. In fact, the term "drycleaning" is misleading; it is called drycleaning because the solvent contains little or no water and does not penetrate the fibers as water does. Among the advantages of drycleaning is its ability to dissolve grease and oils in a way that water cannot.

Drycleaning helps return garments to a "like new" condition using precautions to prevent shrinkage, loss of colour and fabric distortion.

The drycleaning process begins with the pretreatment of of spots and stains using special cleaning agents. The garments are then loaded into a machine resembling an oversized front-loading home washer. It produces similar mechanical action to loosen embedded dirt. Throughout the cleaning process, the solvent is filtered or distilled to ensure its clarity.

                 Recommendations

Brush your clothes regularly and thoroughly.

Have garments cleaned regularly... even nominal accumulation of perspiration, grease, grit and dust particles impair the attractiveness and longevity of a garment. Garments cleaned regularly last longer.

When a garment has been stained, tell your dry cleaner about the staining substance; it is important for successful stain removal.

Hang knitted garments for long periods of time. Hanging pulls them out of shape and causes a sagging hemline. Knits are best stored in a drawer...or folded over a padded hanger.

Use an under arm deodorant without using a shield to protect the garment from the deodorant. Allow the deodorant to dry before putting on the garment.

Store garments at home without having them cleaned and mothproofed before storage. Be sure that the plastic is removed.

Dont try and remove stains yourself. You may cause further damage. Take garment as soon as possible to professional dry cleaner.

Rug Cleaning
We provide cleaning for Regular and Oriental rugs through the services of an affiliate with over 35 years of experience.
  Wet Cleaning

Both solvent and water will wet a fabric, but water also "swells" fibers. It is this swelling action which causes shrinkage and dye fading in many garments. Drycleaning solvents are superior to water in the removal of oily or greasy residues which are the base component in many stains.

Of course, "wet" cleaning is an important part of fabric care also. There are many stains which are removed more readily in wetcleaning. Most drycleaners have special wet-washing equipment for this purpose.

  Wedding Gowns
Your wedding is one of the most important occasions in your life. Why not preserve your gown for generations to come?

We offer numerous Bridal Gown services including dry cleaning, wet cleaning, restoration and preservation. Your gown will be evaluated to determine the most effective process to restore it to its original beauty. Each gown undergoes numerous inspections, complete hand-spotting, hand-cleaning and hand-pressing.
Each gown we receive is inspected by  trained professional prior to beginning the cleaning process. The condition of the fabric is studied, difficult stains are tested, nuances like bows, pleating and over-layers are noted, and the customer is contacted if there are foreseen problems. We evaluate each gown to determine the appropriate cleaning method of cleaning - whether it is drycleaning, wetcleaning, or a combination of both if necessary.
Our preservation process involves careful final inspection, customer viewing if desired, and then packaging in museum-quality archival boxes with acid-free tissue to minimize aging.
It's important to clean and preserve your gown soon after your wedding. The dirt, grass stains, car grease, food and alcoholic beverages that find their way on to your treasured gown can become permanent in a very short time. It is best to clean your gown as soon after the wedding as possible.
